You know you’re dry when you ask your 6 and 3 year olds for good ideas for blog posts. The 6 year old piped up with dinosaurs! Then the 3 year old came in right behind with horses! (two current favorite topics) Then my son, the 6 year old, came up with the idea of  “A magical fairy tale with everything we say in it!” I had to laugh, but damned if that isn’t a good idea. I’ve been running dry on the summer activity idea front as well, and this seems like a grand project for the next day or so. Making and illustrating a story that we write together. ( I have to say that as I’m writing this my youngest is bouncing next to me on my bed, regaling me with her story about the horse who beats up the dinosaur. Said story complete with re-enactment of punches and sounds a’la old Batman episodes….it’s darned hard to not give in to the cuteness).

Anyone who thinks a domestic life isn’t condusive to creativity should come hang out with my crew for a bit.
